Hey guys what is the biggest size a tire can be for the back? I have 215's, I want the widest that it can be without having the tire stick out. Do any of you know what size width is the maximum we can put for out 3rd Gen birds and Camaros rear tires?

wider isnt always better, a wider tire generally wieghs more so acceleration can suffer.

do u just want a decent sized looking tire, or are u planing on like autocrossing or something like that

ive got 235's on 15x8 rims. they fit perfect right to the edge of the fender.

I am running P255ZR50-16's as the stock tires all the way around. But I have some ZR40-17 corvette rims that I am going to use in the near future.

I'm running 245/50/16s on formula rims now. My last set was 235/60/15 on stock firebird wheels.

They look good and perform well. When they are bigger they start giving you the balloon effect. They feel "squishy" when you drive on the really wide tires as well.

I want it mostly for the looks, but I also don't want my performance to suffer, so what's a good size to have without the acceleration or performance problems?

My rear street tire is a BFG Comp T/A 265/50r16 on the stock 16" '87 Iroc rim. Even with the rear lowered by 1 3/4" the tire fits just fine.

Yes, a larger sized tire and a softer sidewall will give you that "squishy" soft ride.
