Re: Build two motors in this mess?

This is usuallly all of the room I have. What I also love about my car is the fact that the headlight pockets are great for laying tools and parts down. Any work I have to do is all done here usually. This or a bucket next to the car.

Re: Build two motors in this mess?

this motor is ready to go in the car... maybe tomorrow. I work wonders in here... and yes, I know where to find everything.

I wish this picture would have come out better. Fully TIG welded instead of the tack weld and JB Quik.

I'm pretty sure I have the same MIG welder as you. Chicago Electric? I got my TIG on sale at harbor freight for $199, and have never went back! (to the mig welder)

I would have bought it if it did square wave (aluminum). Unless the one you got has a foot pedal? Mine is the 90amp flux-core, got it for $129 (have seen it for $99 since).

Built two cars and tons of motors in this mess.

3 ton chain hoist mounted to the ceiling. Pulled the LT1 and 700R4 no problem. Even hung a Civic from it! Lol. 25x30 shop, 16x 4' flourecent lights directly above the car.

Re: Built two cars and tons of motors in this mess.

Wow, have times changed. I have too many projects for the two car garage and got sick of moving things in and out just to have room to work, so I got this (view from my office door)...

1000sf. Already have a 6'x2'x30" pressurized media blasting cabinet, surface grinder (think re-face valves, shave parts thinner etc), 6hp compressor, multiple stands and hoist, welders, hand tools, lift and flow bench will be here in about a week as well

I patched the floor today from the old tenant and am epoxy-ing the floor tomorrow.

This shop even has A/C in the 9'x16' office w00t!

EDIT: I should take a pic of the garage before I move it all out hehe...

EDITx2:

Here's a shot before I brought in the big compressor and separated the motor/trans/k/heads etc...

Now that is a "work space". Now if you ever have time to work on your project...youll have some elbow room

Don't I know ...

Found a lift for $200 under my budget! Going to the Key's on Sunday B)

Couple had the lift under their 18' stilt house then moved. Now the wife wants to get it out of the storage unit lol. They didn't want to set it up outside and it get ruined ...

So, had to make some room, and went ahead and put the Bimmer in there to see actual workspace with customers cars inside...

The stuff in front of the car hasn't found it's home yet, but the flow bench equipment should be here by the end of the week

Here's the calibration unit that has to be used everyday the bench is turned on (to zero out the barometer...

and here's what it will kinda look like when the head adapter is finished; ignore the values on the meter and laptop - major vac leaks with the acrylic tube and head resting on the top.

Re: Build two motors in this mess?

All you had to do was move the 2 bottles of window washer fluid ( 1st photo) and you would have PLENTY of room!

Your new place is awsome!
Best of luck with your ventures in the "cave"!

LOL Thanx. It's amazing what can happen, started helping others' with their cars to help pay for my own projects, and suddenly mine sits idle and thinking about taking it on full time (then maybe my car will get done after hours haha).

Re: Build two motors in this mess?

Man, what a year! Our race car made the cover of Grassroots Motorsports magazine for the Apr 11 issue

Time to step it up a notch, the race team and I, along with WOT-TECH has joined forces to expand a bit.

This is the new shop...

Epoxied the floor...

Started to roll a car around and see how we wanted to park them and made a .gif lol...

Name: BigAnimated.gif
Views: 93
Size: 2.23 MB

Decided to keep things square to leave more room for shelving on the walls...

The parts car and the red car are now outside and have more shelving in there but no new pics. Will take some when we get all the equipment and the lift moved in
