Smoke comming out of valve cover breathers
I fitted my valvecovers with some valve cover breathers and got rid of the PCV system. I noticed today that there is smoke comming out of them. I did paint them but it isn't the paint cooking. I pulled them off both sides and there is smoke comming out of the valve cover holes for the breathers. I havn't checked my oil or coolant, but there is no smoke out of the exhaust.

You should keep the PCV for a daily driver. It keeps water and gas out of your oil by burning off the vapors before they make it back to liquid state.

Re: Smoke comming out of valve cover breathers
The PCV system is definitely one emmission control system that improves performance, not hindering it.
I always run them on anything less than a full race engine. On those I run the crankcase evacuation system.
On my Olds engines I even run two PCV valves and replace the oil fill cap with a big breather. The PCV system can actually help ring seal from the crankcase side if it is properly sized.
Put it back!!
