Overheatd, now engine knocks
Hey guys, ill try to make this as short as possible. The other day my car overheated bad. Engine started smoking, then came the knocking. I looked in my radiator and saw that there was pretty much no water. So I could have prevented this, I kick myself in the a** everyday for it. But is it possible that I just threw a main bearing? The car ran fine before this event. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Did you change your oil since? You may have collapsed a lifter, or spun a rod bearing, but I doubt a main. There is also a chance that you blew a head gasket, and leaked water in the cyl causing the rod bearing failure.
I would suggest doing a compression check (testers are cheap), if that's ok, add a quart of tranny fluid with your oil change in place of 1qt of oil. Wait a few hundred miles, and change it back to all oil. This would help a stuck lifter.
A rod knock, well, you can check through the oil pan while the motor is still in. I did a writeup on how to remove oil pan with the motor in the car here in the v6 section a while back. You would pull the pan, then a couple or rod/main caps to check the shape of the bearings.
Do you have any audio/video for us, the type of sound makes a big difference on the determination of what it is.

I forgot to mention that it's a stock 3.1. But I have no videos or sound clips of it. I will say that I can feel the vibration when I give it gas from the throttle lever on the carb. If that helps any. Also after it reaches operating temp, when I put it in drive the oil pressure drops below 0. I will try to get a video soon. I really want to get it back on the road, I miss those compliments and stares. Lol.

Too bad you aren't a little closer, or I would be glad to help. I'm about 2hrs South of you.
See what you can do for a soundclip/video. It would help a lot since the description af a sound can be vague.
