i recently bought an 89 camaro. it wasn't running when i got it, but i've been known for being kind of camaro enlightened. the fuel injectors are firing, i have spark, the thing is i dont know about fuel pressure. i'm getting it checked sunday, but i think i have an idea why it may not be firing.
first of all, i think its fuel pressure because it backfires, more often when u hit the gas. all while turning it over. the fuses are fine, but i think its this thing i found. its not the usualy 2 fuel lines we have, its a smaller line and it goes to some plastic object not far away from the fuel tank, but it looks like its missing some line that i dont know anything about. i think it might have something to do with the small diameter fuel line on the fuel rail cause i dont know what either of them does. i'll post pictures of what i described later. if you know anything about what i'm talking about could you take a picture or something so i know were on the same page. any help would be great.

?????
I think pictures are necessary....

nevermind. what i'm trying to describe. what are some things that could cause low fuel pressure? new fuel filter? the lines are ok, so there's no leak there, my fuel injectors are ok. could the computer be messing up the timing somehow?

Keep it simple
You need to test your fuel pressure first. That means buying a gauge at the auto parts store and plugging it in at the back of your engine. It should be 41-47 psi when you key it on.
Then you start the car and see what it is running. Your fuel filter is certainly the most suspect. It should be changed once a year if you drive normally. If you change your filter and your pressure is still low, then it's fuel pump time.

checked my ignition and my fuel system. its not the problem, i have adequate fuel pressure and i have spark. so my uncle(a liscenced mechanic) said its probably a timing chain. maybe an overrev slipped the chain and it stopped running. are the sprockets made of nylon? i heard its something like that.

hey, about that line that comes off the fuel tank and goes to a little white plastic thing; i know exactly what your talking about. Yet i dont know what it is.. i can get a picture of it this weekend if noone else knows what we are talking about. Have you found out what that is?

Sounds like your timing is off. You sure you have the wires on right?
