Re: MSD 6A

No, not for a V6, and not for a V8 either. Stock HEI is good to about 5000-5500 rpms. We did a dyno test on a 330 RWHP TPI engine, and the difference was 2 horsepower at the rear wheels, every time.

If you have a blower or nitrous that needs a better spark, then maybe its worth it.

Re: MSD 6A

I got the MSD 6AL mostly for the rev limiter but also 'cause I'm toying with the idea of forced induction. But right now my mostly stock 2.8 probably doesn't need it.

Re: MSD 6A

Dont ever buy an msd 6a or 6al box.. niether are digital and for the price theyre are much better cheaper options such as accel/mallory that are digital and work alot better.

Re: MSD 6A

I've used the MSD 6A, MSD 6AL, and Mallory HyFire VI on various thirdgens I've owned. At the stock level of performance I really couldn't tell the difference between the MSD analog and Mallory digital boxes.
