Really? I was told that a 3.8 shares the same bell housing pattern as a 350 so thus it wouldn't work...

The ones I have seen do not, but you have to be refering to the correct 3.8.

There are atleast 3 different 3.8 engines.

Carbed Chevy 3.8 which is a 305 with 2 cylinders hacked out.

Early Buick 3.8 = Debored 350 Buick V8 with 2 cylinders chopped out

Late Buick 3800 = Early model V6, refined with SFI, DIS, and the 60*V6 bellhousing to mate up to the FWD transmissions. This same engine was used with the 60*V6 version of the 4L60E used behind the 2.2/3.4/and 3.8.

Fast355 is correct. The 3800 series II uses the same bellhousing bolt pattern.

Re: Tired of 4 cyls. kickin' my a**.

All of the front wheel drive Buick V6 engines (GM 3.0, 3.3, 3300, 3.8, 3800) and the 4th gen 3800 rear drive engines use the GM Metric bolt pattern. It's pretty easy if it's automatic, it's the standard shift engines I am having a problem with. Finding a flywheel is hard work!

Re: Tired of 4 cyls. kickin' my a**.

ohhh i had a 91 caddy with a 4.9, all it had done to it was an accel coil, and it would wax azz and fry tires, it had a multi port port injection, with a throtle body on it, looked like the TBI to multi port conversion that edelbrock sells, but it was stock. i think putting one in a camaro would be cool, a 3800 would be sweet also, didnt thay have a supercharged 3800??? that would be even sweeter.

Y'know, this is the v6 board. Comments like that should stay in the v8 or engine swap boards.

Re: Tired of 4 cyls. kickin' my a**.

Tired of getting beat by 4 cylinders I've got a solution that won't cost a dime find a 2.3 mustang lx and race it. Just remember it could always be worse you could be driving a mustang.
