question about timing gear spaceR?
theres a metal... what looks like a type of spacer that runs the length between the cam and crank gears and keeps the chain from going in too far. the top of the right(driver) side is broken off and is nowhere to be seen, the question is if it will be ok if i leave it there or if i could file it down to smooth that edge or should i just try to find another part?

Like this? Ive heard that, for some reason, these engines are prone to do that. Although I dont know it is a bad thing to leave as is.

If you have it down to that point already, you might as well just replace the dampner. I picked up one for mine (when I replaced the timing chain) for less than $10 at Checker.

mine is broken at the exact same place! and my timing chain skipped too, so maybe that damper had something to do with it. i'd replace it. i am actually. napa has them on their website.
