TB question

I was just wondering if there is a way to take the shaft, that holds the tb plate on, out of the tb? I had heard once that it is just a pressure fit and with a few hits with a hammer it will pop out...nope It is locked shaft is locked on the one end by a circle plate, and I cnt figure out how to get it out...without destroying it.
Has anyone taken this out?

Re: TB question

Let me go look at the stock 3.1TB, but if it's the one I remember, you have to file off the "mushroomed" shaft near the pull. It's kind of an oval shaft pressed through a plate (the the cable attaches to), then flattened on the end to stay in place.

If that doesn't make sense, I'll get out a TB and show you if you need.

Re: TB question

Thats what I was thinking, but than that peice wouldnt be able to be used again. Mabye I could drill into the end, where the flatened part was, and put a screw into it.

Yep.

You could probably use a Dremel to get most of it off, then file it nice and flat. If you know someone with a welder, one spot would do the trick as well.

Re: TB question

Thanks. I was going to file down that part but I didnt want to mess it up by doing it wrong. Now to see if I know someone with a spot welder.

The gerbel is running again...
