gen I II III exhaust fitments????

hey, still looking at a 89 3.1 grandprix donor car. i believe this would have gen II heads ?? my question is, are the exhaust ports different between all the heads, will pacesetters from my rwd gen I 2.8 fit my possible gen II headed 3.1 engine ??
thanks anthony

Re: gen I II III exhaust fitments????

Yes, the TGP uses a genII 3.1.

genI - round exhaust ports

genII - round exhaust ports, slightly wider bolt pattern than the genI

genIII - D shaped ehxaust ports, same bolt pattern distance as genII

3500 (also a genIII) - D-shaped ports that are slightly larger than the older genIII exhaust ports, uses same bolt pattern as genII/III.

You will need to make custom exhaust manifolds or headers to add a turbo to your F-body, regardless of the heads used. (barring the use of an under k-frame Y-pipe on stock genI manifolds). The TGP manifolds just simply will not work in a RWD arrangment.
The Pacesetter headers will work, but will need the bolt holes elongated to match the bolt pattern.

I would also skip the genII top end and go to the genIII top end, for much better flow and ease of modification.

I may be selling a few 3400 top ends soon.
