I forgot to mention that I got a tubular K member,Tubular controll arms and the coil-over conversion kit from PA Performance. It's already installed. Took 85lbs off the front and gave me even more room.
The car did start life as a 2.8L with auto.
That's what the sticker in the left corner of the bumper reads still. 2.8L MPFI Lol.

Hehe I love coupes. Aside from the wheels/tires and clean paint it's quite the sleeper too... I like it!

Re: Who's V-6's can beat a V-8??????
The Buick engine swap can be done relitively inexpensive if you do the work yourself and buy a complete "good" running engine/trans.
Your best to research these two sites:
www.turbobuick.com
www.turbobuicks.com
In the "Hybrid" section. Alot of good info already posted and good fellas that
like to help like I do.
I'm now doing alot more custom turbo installs on 97+ Camaro/FB's with the factory 3.8L The engine is more than stout in stock forum to handle 15-20psi tuned right.
Finishing one right now in my shop. Headers that I made go out to powder coat today. HPTuners supports 97+ V6 Camaro engines. It's the right way to program a turbo car.
Be glad to help if you go this route~

I don't have any problems with V8's now....
This thread didn't say anything about the V6 having to be the factory one did it?
3.8L Buick GN V6 with a few engineering tweaks (obviously)
Last year with tight converter poor launch went 11.16@123mph on 93oct. 18psi.
This year with stroker crank,6.3" rods.. Roller cam and converter re-stalled I should have no problems with 10.50's on 93oct. and all I want is 9.9999 on race fuel one time

I'm all the way in Indiana... Close to South Bend. (top center of state)
Still snow on ground here.
Hope to have the short block here in a few weeks.
Heads have problems.. (old Champion castings) Hope Tom down at Champion can repair them or I might be screwd. New ones are 2500.00 and can't get a set for awhile due to casting shortage.
I'm going to keep optimistic.

I know my grocery getter (92 RS 3.1) put a few sneaky beatings on some cars of greater displacement. I also know, that more than one of those was due to driving skill, and had my opponent been of comparable gray matter(BRAIN) I would have been beaten. Now days she is a slow cruiser, I leave the but kickin to the 91.

I have put the smack down on many a v8 everyone knows i have a v6 i have the sign on the hood under the firebird icon and on the sides but waht they don't see is the 12 pounds of bottled kick *** in the back and the magic button that powers it on the dash lol i made many a v8 eat my dust and sometime eat a blown head gasket or two lol

I can tell you for sure that my lightly modded (without NOS) '92 3.1 5speed Firebird will easily smoke my '75 3spd auto Firebird with a stock 455 V8 off the line! The huge 455 with Auto Trans takes too long to catch up.

Re: Who's V-6's can beat a V-8??????
I have a '89 firebird that has beat a mustang gt . I took it off the line then when i hit third it started going pass me so i dropped back to second and wheel hopped and passed the stang and won. Max speed from stoplight to stoplight was around 95-100 mph and distance was a little over a quarter mile. I was running a rear lift with tires that were i think 12in wide and 30 or so inches high and my timeing was really advanced . And yes it is a stock 2.8.

I have yet to race a 6 cyl camaro that didn't end up with rubber on their windshield and a beautiful *** to look at.
i believe someone said something about beating the v8 off the line in his 6, unless you got some serious mods, 90 - 140 horsepower is not gonna beat 145- 215 hp v8 with 255 ft lbs's

oh and btw, whoever said that a 3.1 3rd gen was 3700lbs needs to put the crack pipe down. mine weighed in at 3321lbs with me in it, and i'm 202lbs.

It's all V6s and I4s here. Only V8s you see here are the Corvettes. And I don't think my little V6 can beat an LS7.

Ok I know a modified V6 can go fast but I have a LO3 5speed 3.08 and its not as slow off the line as the auto's, well maybe if you consider 3k clutch dumps and a peg leg burn out till it finally hooks.
If anyone thinks im trying to flame but I have a firebird with a 3.4 and I have had several 60v6 cars and I know what they are capable of. I am just sticking up for the LO3 as being the "slight" upgrade to a v6.

Yea, and I can only pick on heavily optioned, undergeared (2.73) L03's with my slightly upgraded v6- and only for so long. It's all over after the first 60 feet. But I can still say I jumped 'em off the line.

Re: Who's V-6's can beat a V-8??????
Wow, there's alot of L03 bashing in here. I PROMISE you there's not a single NON TURBO'D V6 in here that I wouldn't destroy. But I'm a bit far from "stock". Hell my V8 car weighs less than most the V6er's in here. It's all in how well the car is taken care of. I know when my car was stock, luckily the engine at the time only had 15,000 on it when I got it. so it was FAR from tired. I was CRUSHING my friends 3.1 stick car, (and many other R.I.C.E.R.S) spinning all the way through first gear. ( Peg leg can kiss my a$$).

my daily driver/ tinker car is a 1999 Buick Regal LS with a GS supercharger on it, pulley, de screened MAF, and a sweet little cold air will put the 5.0's and 4.6's to shame, well most of em. Not a third gen but it is a V6

UR50SLO all I can say is wow, nicely done. I love the engine compartment
Mine has a bunch of old stock junk under the hood but there wasnt much out there back when I was building it 8-10 years ago. It's gone 10.50 at 128mph on racegas at 27psi and 3640lbs and 11.06 @ 120mph on Shell 93 at 18psi and the current 3510lbs. One of these days I'll get to pulling the engine and replacing the stock crank and rods with a forged setup so I can feel better about twisting it some, right now I shift at 5K and tune it to keep the motor below 6K through the lights.

Yeah, that's the first thing I said to Paul when we seen you leave the track yesterday to go home, we thought you were driving home on a full slick at first lol. Posted a video of your car in the F/S thread, might as well attach here so others can check it out as well. BTW nice pics, let me know if you need an A/C delete box w/blower motor and wiring harness. Bought one a month ago, but I'm not going to use it....

Re: Who's V-6's can beat a V-8??????

Well.. it turned out great last year and ran a full second better than I thought it would.
I ended up going 10.32@133mph on 93oct pump gas at 17-18psi.
On a 6lb foot brake launch. (1.51 60')
I'm changing a few things here this spring to get 9.90's on 93oct.
Honestly I only wanted 10.90's on 93 but my first shake down pass went 10.71@131mph.
I had 3:50 gears in it last year and at the 1000ft mark I was letting up since my shift light was on at 6000rpm.
So... I got 3:25's here ready to go in for duty.
Glass hood and I put a steering rack in last fall.(but after final time at StantonMI.)
I remember your bird from the GMHTP article.
I can duplicate the IC pipes again if your interested!

Take care,

Dont want to hurt your feelings but I had a 85 Trans Am with a Q-Jet and I got beat by a HHR LT with two blonde chicks inside laughing thier rear ends off. I caved and bought a GTA 350 after that, and im still not happy. My 350 is just barely faster than a stock mustang with a 6, and im not even on the radar of a new Camaro.
But I love the V-6 Boards, you guys are pushed to make more from less (literally). I honestly think some of the best ideas for the thirdgens come from you guys. Keep up the good work!

Thanks! Still a work in progress.
Buddy get's deals on stereo stuff so He got me a touch screen dvd single sub and amp. Watching movies when driving is cool! Sounds like a theater in there!
I'm entered in Hot Rod's "Drag Week" 5 tracks in 5 days.. no trailers/support cars. 800-1200mi. Just hope to not have a .30ct part take me out.

Here is some pic's with the low cowl hood.

( Peg leg can kiss my a$$).
so woud u run my 3.4 v6 is juat stock hope the fact that im runing with cobras dont scare u
