3.1 V6 Acting up after new Alternator installed.

It likes to surge at Idle. When I have it in drive and am stopping at a stop sign for instance, it acts like it might die on me then comes back. I put on brand new spark plugs and wires about 4 days ago. I also put on a new serpentine belt. Any ideas as to what the problem could be? Oh, and it also seems to run hotter than usual.

Check for adequate fuel pressure.

again anytime you remove power or disconnect the battery the computer loses its idle setting and thats whats its doing searching for idle..it doesnt know where its supposed to be?..its called Idle relearn Procedure..do a search and learn how to do it.Its basically rehook the battery start the car if its a auto block the wheels and put it in drive and wait till the fans come on ..shut it off after you put it in park and restart it and put it in drive wheels still blocked and run for 4-5 minutes. If its a stick just leave out the blocking of the wheels and wait for the fan

That really did the trick, thanks. Not only does it idle better, but it seems to run better in general.

Yeah..I wish I could tell everyone that complains about idle issues when they disconnect the battery for repairs. The dealer used a tech 1 scanner that has the idle relearn mode in it and you dont have to do all that blocking wheels and fan coming on stuff ,but who has a tech 1 scanner?.I got one but doesnt have the idle relearn mode in it.
