Coolant leak, but without the leak?

Okay, I KNOW I have a coolant leak. I don't know where, other than the damn intake-to-heater core metal pipe where the plastic connector is slowly coming apart (any recommendations on how to fix this, BTW?). When I am going down the road, I don't notice anything, but when I stop, boy does that coolant leak smell come into the car. I can stand there, looking at the engine with it running and FULLY pressurized, and not see a leak. I can see wet spots all over the place, but not see a leak, not even a slow drip. AFAIK my oil is normal, and my heater core is in good shape.
Any ideas? I might just fix the coolant pipe and throw a timing cover gasket on it just for giggles....
Can someone post me a link to that post where the guy rigged up a new heater pipe?

It's somewhere on or around the engine, but the heater fan picks it up and carries the smell to the interior.

unfortunatly id drop the cover to the heater core just to rule it out. padding could be soaked but not enough to drip on the floor. also check the hoses to the heater core on the firewall those could be leaking and the fan could be sucking in the air.

those hoses are a pita anyways..

Is there any smoke or steam rising from then engine or just the wet spots on the ground? Is there any white smoke coming out from the exhaust pipe?

Re: Coolant leak, but without the leak?

Well, the thing now is that I don't smell anything but I'm still losing coolant. I'm going to have it looked at by another class tomorrow morning, so, hopefully, they will do a pressure test and tell me what's up. I'll check the oil later, and, no, I don't have white smoke coming from the exhaust. Believe me, with my cat leak, I WOULD smell it ALL THE TIME, and I don't.

Still looking for that info on how to rig up a replacement heater to intake pipe.

Re: Coolant leak, but without the leak?

Found the leak this afternoon. It's coming from the lower of the two heater core pipes that run through the bulkhead, probably a bad or loose clamp. I just love getting to it with the cylinder head in place .
