2.8L, Need some Help here?

Okay here is the situation. I have an 89 2.8 with a 5 speed. The car is fine when it firsts starts up. After it warms up on the Highway, the oil pressure drops, and it starts acting like the clutch is slipping. I pull into town, its fine as long as we are moving. When I stop the engine refuses to idle. When I try to get on the throttle, it just drops out and starts spitting and sputtering. I have also gotten a code 45 during one of these fits. I replaced the TPS, but haven't gone any further. Any ideas?

Too much fuel or rich condition is code 45..probably reason you dont have any suggestions is due to a number of items that can cause that.A leaky injector(if they are original) high fuel pressure, and EGR staying open (especially at idle) which tends me to believe it might be this..cause when you come to a stop it wont idle.If it was a injector leaking.. usually it will take awhile for the injector to dump fuel and then the idle is unstable. So you have some checking to do?. I am surprised you dont have a code 32 like the others have been dealing with..

Thanks for the help. Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. I just got my EGR in I will be replacing it this weekend. I still need a bit of help witht the oil pressure problem though. I understand that pressure will gown down as it warms up but it starts out at 40 and then drops to right at zero. I was thinking the sending unit but I just don't know enough about this engine to make that call.

I would try a new sending unit and see if it changes if it doesnt then you need to install a remote oil pressure gauge probably at the fitting where the sending unit goes and somehow jump the wires that run to it(so the engine will start) and see if your gauge (on the dash) and the one you installed on the motor has the same readings?.if they both drop to 0..after it warms up then your gauge is okay and reading good and you might want to find out why your losing oil pressure?..possibly worn main/rod bearings but will need to yank and inspect the internal parts of the engine. But if your dash gauge reads 0 and the remote gauge is still reading pressure then your dash gauge is out of wack.Hopefully that will give you a starting point..Not sure on your year but mine will kill the fuel pump if it hits 0 PSI.
