89 firebird 3.1 strong exhaust smell inside
89 firebird 2.8 strong exhaust smell inside
My car has a very strong exhaust smell inside the car while running and a gas smell outside around the front. Its runs good and is descent on gas but has a problem cutting off immediately after I crank it so I have to hold the gas pedal a few minutes until it warms up and its fine but it idles fine for a little bit then it idles low and then high and it will cutt off sometimes at a stoplight or sitting a couple minutes and I'm getting code 32 32 32 on check engine light. I put a new fuel pump in it when I got it and I didn't put a cover on the hole in the trunk I just put the carpet back over it maybe that has something to do with it? My friend said he could tell by the sound of it that the manifold gasket on the right side is bad. I have put in new plugs, fuel filter, fuel pump, it had bad gas in it but I ran it out and new gas in it with fuel injection cleaner and I think that helped, it seems to be running a little better down the road. I know the car sat a good year or so when I bought it.

Put a cover on that hole that you cut for the fuel pump. That should take care of your exhaust smell. For the gas smell I would start by looking for leaks.
