fast idle, code 33

alright, i just did an intake job on my 3.1. replaced all the gaskets, and followed correct procedure. i've had this car torn apart 2 times now and i really do not want to do it again. i finally put it all back together and now its hard to start, it idles at 2,000+, and throws a code 33. i've already replaced my EGR, MAT, i have another 02 going in soon, cap, rotor, plugs, wires. the engine shakes pretty bad as well. when i press on the throttle, its like the power is gone. this kinda steers me towards vacuum leak but i just replaced all the gaskets with fresh ones. its driving me insane and i need this car to run. i basically had to drop out of my current college course due to the fact that i cant make it because this car wont run.

here is a explanation of the code

https://www.thirdgen.org/service-eng...ht-error-codes

map/maf problem.. unplug it and see how it runs. if it runs better then the map/maf is the problem.

i unplugged the MAP sensor, it did run at a lower RPM. but it still starts hard, and the lack of power is demoralizing. maybe my timing is off? i also noticed that i have a small fuel leak at the fuel rail itself where the lines meet up with the fuel rail, the seal is blown i'm sure. it just runs horrid, which leads me to believe its my timing now.

Re: fast idle, code 33

id fix the fuel leak first and formost.. don't need fuel spraying and starting a fire. since u are fixing a fuel leak might as well check the vaccum lines running to the throttle body/ and surrounding area. looks like u get to pull the upper intake off and fix the fuel leak.

Re: fast idle, code 33

well, i think i may have to go back down to the valve covers. i have a feeling that the hard starting may be because my valves are too tight. that was the one thing i was unsure of how to do. i did it by using the #1 on TDC method, but when i spun the crank to do my other valves, the ones i set wiggled a bit. so i tightened them up again. so they are probably way too tight. well, its a learning experience i guess.

I know the feeling I had to tear mine down three times until I got it in the ballpark.Dont go by any manual its not correct.I had all mine too tight and the engine spun like crazy (no compression) and didnt start. Its basically set it to 0 lash and I wouldnt go any more then 1/4 turn.Otherwise the valves are opening and losing compression or cylinder seal.
