car troubles driving me nuts
so heres the deal i have a automatic 2.8l rs and its driving me up the wall. its been havin some weird problems the car would not start so i replaced the starter and the battery with brand new ones and it was working fine for a little while. but all of a sudden its havin some electrical problems when i try to start it sometimes it will not crank over and other times it will. then when the car is hot and the temp gauge is at 220 the car will not start at all unless i leave it alone for a while. there is also a problem whith the power it reads at 8 volts sometime and other times it will read at 12volts but when im driving the power in the car will turn completely off and nothing works...so any advice would be great

Is your security light on? It could be the VATS system acting up (security system) What year is the car?

Re: car troubles driving me nuts
Ok i have an 89 with the 2.8 and the starting problem i have had before as well as the dying problem. The starting is one of two things. It may be the starter sylinoid which you can bypass with a screw driver, or most likely it is the wires running to the starter. Corrosion is a common problem i replaced both at the same time and now it is all good. The reading from the alternator is probably a faulty gauge. As far as the dying problem it could be the fuel fiter, like mine, as well as the fuel injectors, again like mine. I changed the fuel filter which sucked because of the dirt/fumes then for a while every time i put gas in it I also put in fuel injector cleaner. It still funs rich but it does not die your best bet is to replace injectors like im doing as soon as i get a day off.
