Service Light Reset Question

Anyone know how to reset the service light on my 88 Camaro 2.8?
I've tried disconnecting the battery but it still comes on.
Any advice??
Thanks in advance

Re: Service Light Reset Question

The only way to get rid of the light is going to be pull the code, diagnose the failure and repair it. As long as you have a problem in one of the monitored circuits, it's going to keep setting a light.

Try turning the key to the on position, without the car running, then pump the gas three times, then on the fourth time, hold the pedal down till the light goes out. This may or may not work on older cars, I don't even know if it would work on mine, but I know it works for most mid 90s gm vehicle service lights. If it is the check engine light however, then 2_point8_boy is correct. Hey, its worth a try, let me know if this helps.

Our cars do not have a maintenence lamp, so that's not gonna work. The only way to fix the SES light is to repair the fault causing it. BTW, that is the reset procedure for most of the new (2000+) GM trucks. The mid 90's cars that had the maint. lamps had an oil reset button un the fuse panel.

I use a piece of black electrical tape over the light.

That's smart...

Why not take the time to fix your car so you're not driving around with something wrong with it???

Re: Service Light Reset Question

Just an idea, like I said I didnt kno if it would work... and its not only on newer GM trucks i've successfully reset maintenance lights on mid 90s and newer G.M. CARS as well, maybe they were late 90s I can't remember all of them for sure...
