Injection timing for a 1990 camaro RS V6

Transmission: 4 Speed Auto 700R4
Axle/Gears: 3.23
Injection timing for a 1990 camaro RS V6

I need the ignition timing for a 1990 camaro RS V6 3.1 with Air. My Manual said it's in the engien bay. Counldn't find it and my guessing it is on the stock hood that I don't have anyone. Help plz Yes I know that is said Injection not my fault, blame firefox.

12* btdc with the est bypass wire disconcted with the motor at operating temp

My 91 says 10 degrees in nuetral and 10 in drive.

opps i gave u the timing for a 2.8, but 12* is fine on the 3.1 as well will actually make it run a lil better uptop

Thanx guys, I'm going to set it to 10 for right now as I am haveing problems but I remember hearing that running it at 12 is better so I'll change it once I work out the bugs. Thanx again

yeah, 10* is stock for all 2.8L and 3.1L engines, but most people run at 12* or 13* for a tiny bit of power and fuel economy. I personally run 15* and hdo not have a problem with detonation.

2.8 u sure on that, i remeber my old sticker on my stock hood saying 12* on my 2.8, but i no longer have the stock hood to look again. i will dbl check nextime in in the jy though they have a boatload of v6 f-bodys and even 2 iron duke f-bodys

everytime i go i always have to fight the urge to go ask how much for one of the iron duke cars as there all there but one has a blown motor and one has a bad trans.

could be an interesting lil turbo 4 banger project

100% sure on that. All stock 660's with adjustable timing were 10* BTDC

prolly just so used to setting it to 12* and hearing everyone else set it to 12*

i really wish i had my old stock hood still i really coulda sworn it said 12*

this may be a dumb question but... how do you change your timing? I've never attempted it... also, won't the ecm just put it back to stock?

u can set the base timming, so say u advance the base 2* it will always be 2 more then the ecm would normally have int he motor same if u pull it out.

u start the car and let it warm up, then u unplug the est connector and use a timing light like u would any othe rmotor and rotate the dizzy
