anyone looked at side pipes ? aka vette ?
so my birds off the road now and im cruising round in another rust bucket, i was thinking of all the jobs i need to do to it - one is pace setter headers, then i was thinking why not route it out the sides and have some cool side pipes like a 70's vette. its a non GFX car so the lower side of the body sweeps round under the car quite alot and i thought a set of pipes would look good in that space and not stick out too much. thoughts ?

I ,personally, don't like the look of side pipes on 3rd Gens at all. I would rather see a set of tips out the back than side pipes.
Here is an old pic of mine. I have straightened out the tips...

^^^that's much better than this...

But I do like these pipes...

But hey, its your car...just giving you my opinion.

Side pipes on a V6?
I'm not thinking that would sound very good.

thanks for the pics, yeah i like yours, the pipes on the red bird dont look long enough so they look crap, they also go fat in the middle. i would try and get it to come out much much further forward and go as long as poss with no guards so its nice and long and works with the cars long low stance more. thanks

ha the v6 sounds alright actually, esp higher up. not as nice as a v8 low down though. i had fun driving around in a 92 i had whilst i had the cat and rear section off lol . oh yeah just noticed the reds GFX as well so they sit way too proud.

hi guys thanks for that, well i can see the problem with proper side pipes and that is the bottom of our doors are too low so the pipe has to sit low to clear, makes the car look fat in the middle and looks a little silly, think im going down the nascar route as sugested now
thanks for the input.
