im in the club...almost

I'm going to be buying an 88 v6 camaro at the end of the month...I used to have a v8 88 camaro, but it was sold a few months ago...so I have a question...how can I get back the power that I had with the v8 (and surpass it)...in a v6 engine.

discuss.

Custom swap to a 3.6L DI V6 from a new CTS...

From now on, please do a search for this kind of thing. It has been covered MANY times.

Re: im in the club...almost

you can get power out of anything with $$$ :-) searching will bring up loads of ideas, typically swap out the block for the rwd 3.4 from a 4th gen then use fwd heads/intake

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/v6/4...ghlight=hybrid

have a read, keep searching and learning and youl soon get your own idea
happy cruising

i say go back to a v8, you can build v6's or swap in a new one as mentioned above but youll spend more money trying to make a v6 "surpass" a v8 when you could just get the v8 and already be a step ahead, take the $ youd save and put it into a forced induction setup (S/C or turbo)

if you have the money, do the 3.6 swap. there was a guy on here a few months back that had it done and all figured out. search for that thread. probably better milage along with easy horsepower. the CTS has DOHC so it has an advantage out of the rest of the v6 engines available.

That depends on the v6

^^^Motor cost me about $1200 including parts and a rebuild, and have $500 or less into the turbo kit so far.

3.4/3500 hybrid motor will spank unmodded 305's, and give an LT1 a run.

I'm not sure, but I think its around 300 HP and 270 lb-ft of torque. thats some serious power. it has direct injection, variable valve timing, DOHC, and 4 valves per cylinder. its good enough GM is putting it in the new camaro as the V6 model if that means anything. it costs some money to do, but you have the technology of a new cadillac in a neo-classic sports car.
