performance 2.8 vs 3.1

performance 2.8 vs 3.1

Hi, I got an 88 Camaro with a 2.8l and I was think about dropping in a 3.1l in. is there any real difference between the performance's of the engines?

I think its about 20hp if you have the engine and time you can change them out if you want, but if you don't have the engine I wouldn't go buy one. Actually I wouldn't even go buy a 3.4 and switch them unless your thinking of alot more mods.

not even 20hp. probally 5hp at most but more torque. also if your looking at figures on paper the 3.1 was map run and the 2.8 was maf run so figures on directly comparable . you could gain more or less ~ but not much.

5hp/ 15ft/lbs, you wouldnt even feel it, not worth it at all. Do a top end swap or just drop in an 8.
