back fireing problems 2.8

back fireing problems 2.8

finally got my 2.8 to idle right now there is another prob...when i press the gas it back fires through the exaust..what would cause this...

sounds like your timing might be off. but reading your other post i think you would have checked that since you rebuilt your dist. check to see if you can turn it by hand, maybe you forgot to tighten it and it shifted?

i still have it loose so i could fine tune it..i can have it idle and be under the hood to rev it up and it starts back firing only over 1500 rpm when it starts..so i try to turn dist to fine tune it but no good

hows the fuel pressure? Injectors flowing properly? Old Cat?

make sure none of ur plug wires are crossed up or arching from one to another

fuel pressure is good i have rebuilt the fuel rail and cleaned it has new diaphram reg in it new injectors ..how would i know if it is sparking ..how would i be able to see if it is jumping one to another firing order 123456...5...6

Take a mist bottle, fill it up with some h20, on a dark night, start the car, let it warm up, get someone to give it a lil throttle and lightly spray down the engine with that fine mist. If you start hearing snaps, cracks, seeing the voltage arc,

Double check all your wires and make sure there on right. Some wires can be crossed "put on wrong plug by mistake" to make it run ok, when you give it gas, will make it feel like a ford on its last leg.
