Re: junk yard parts
The GMC Jimmy has a 2.8/3.1 as well.
But I don't know what would really work. I'm in the process of finding a better throttle body and other cheap parts from other cars from junk yards/pull-a-parts. With the economy these days, it's getting harder and harder to buy parts. Some of the things I want aren't even top of the line performance and cost around $400! (ie exhaust). It's tough if you don't know how to fabricate yourself.

Re: junk yard parts
1. ANY (FWD or RWD) MFI 2.8 or 3.1 for fuel injectors. Beware that these may be partially or fully clogged. Any 3100 or 3.4 will have fuel injectors too big for 2.8 and 3.1 engines and throw codes.
2. Any HEI system with distributor ignition and a module inside the dizzy, for the modules (which may or may not be good... do this at your own risk.) Beware of FWD 4 bangers, as these have the dizzy at the most awful place to try to reach it... at the back, down low, under the intake manifold.
3. Anything with a MAP sensor for 3.1 cars... the MAPs are easy to remove and are good to have ($50+ a pop, similar to fuel injectors).
4. Any V6 for IAC, and TPS. (edit) My fav j/y pulls the IAC, TPS, and CTS from a lot of their cars, bags them up, and sells them for $10. Well, at least that's what they USED to charge. (I haven't needed that stuff in about 3 years now)
5. Ford (yes, I know I'm bad for saying this...
) fuel injectors and possibly some throttle bodies, but you'll need an adapter for the TB's.
6. How's about 3.4 93-95.5 F-bodies, 3100, 3400, and the new 3500 cars for top end swaps?
7. Almost forgot one thing. Anything with a 2.8 for 2.8 owners. The ECMs are interchangeable as long as they are 302's, and they are all under the dash. Anything with the PCM under a cover (with integrated electrical center), on the passenger's side of the engine bay, at the front of the wheel well, is to be passed by, as these are not interchangeable except for the MEMCAL in some cases.
Someone else can chime in about turbos and that stuff... This is the general repair stuff I watch out for when I go to the yard.
