Ignition Switch Replacement

Okiedokie guys, i have a 97 camaro rs that recently had starting issues. When i put my key in, all i get are some accessories like headlights and radio. I don't hear the fuel pump go on and when i put it to the on posistion, nothing happens. To make a long story short, i have outruled the V.A.T.S system because i have a resistor put in place and i was able to basically hotwire it and got it moving for a little while.....only problem with that is that all the power is going to go through the wires and will burn them.....i also would like my key to work correctly soooo, since i know its been used quite a bit (over 82,000 miles) i know that a good possiblility would be the ignition switch. I have checked the wiring many times and checked if everything is getting power when its supposed to be and yes, everything in theory *SHOULD WORK* but there is no power to kick on the fuel pump but the BCM is getting the instructions.....

If anybody has any other imput on this situation please do help. If you would like me to go further on the situation let me know and i can ellaborate on other stuff. otherwise the reason i am posting on this forum is because i wondered if anybody had a guide to replace the ignition switch. Diagrams and wiring schematic would be much appreciated - Thanks!

Re: Ignition Switch Replacement

Yes, i checked all possible solutions regarding fuses and relays with my testlight and some wiring schematics. Everything is working when it should however the problem is that turning the key to on or start doesn't make these things work. That is why the only thing i can think of that can be causing this issue would be the ignition switch. All i think i am going to do is just replace the ignition switch but i can't because i need instructions on going about this. Thanks for the help!

Re: Ignition Switch Replacement

Yeah it worked great for us lol and she likes it more that way. Dunno what was up with the ignition but we still have to have the key in and in the start position to start the car obviously.
