3.1 Crate Engines???

Does anyone sell these? Just thinking I want to make this a solid car since it will more than likely be my daily driver. And plus I dont really care how fast it is since I baby my cars and I have a Camaro being built up for low 10's. Just want something reliable and can drive anywhere.

Just trying to decide if its cheaper to buy a new one or have the current 3.1 rebuilt. (it runs, but not sure how badly it was abused in its past life)

If you're just looking for a replacement 3.1 crate, check eBay... There's usually a couple RWD 3.1's on there among all of the FWD engines.

I've even thought about tearing the engine down and re-ringing the engine along with new gaskets and other misc wear items, but figured these engines are probably a dime a dozen so just exploring my options.

Personally, I say if it's not burning massive amounts of fluids or knocking badly, leave it as it is and set some money aside for if something does happen. Just keep up on your maintenance items and your oil changes along with regular cleaning and the engine will probably last longer than the rest.

Thats probably what I will do for now, I first want to get the exterior in nice shape (new front clip and a good paint job) if the engine can last until thats all done, I will be happy.
