Suggestions for spark plug wires?!!!!

I was tweeking somethings today, cause the bird was't running properly and noticed that one of the wires was partially severed, near the boot. probably my fault and the fact that there old. So before I go and drop money on new wires, what are the the best in your opinion?

-When you put your spark plugs in, do you figure out the gap? is there a way to do that? My buddy said a reason for the bird not running right is because it could be the gap is too small or big, with the plugs?

Re: Suggestions for spark plug wires?!!!!

Check set the plug gaps with a gapping tool. Older style are a set of steel wires with a 90* bend at the end. These are pulled through the gap to check it. The gap being adjusted manually by various means.

There is also a coin style gap checker. Has a tapered ramp around the perimeter. Place it in the gap and rotate until it fills the gap. Read the dimension off the tool (it is numbered toward the inside of the ramp).

Proper plug gap can be found under hood on the emissions sticker.

For wires I've been using the Borg Warner Select series. These are a good spiral wound wire with a silicone jacket. I know that pep-boys carries them. But I think that NAPA also carries them. Reasonably priced too.

You mean the one that runs from the middle of the cap? That would be the ignition coil that it connects too.
