I have a '92 Firebird with the 3.1L that I just put an engine in. It has the electronic EGR, not the one with all the vacuum lines and stuff.. I was wondering if I were to eliminate it would it throw a code in my ECM and turn my "Check Engine" light on?

Re: EGR Removal
yes it will if its broken or leaking ur best bet is to make a thin blockoff plate to install on the pipe from the egr to the intake manifold so u can leave the egr pluged in

Re: EGR Removal
even with the egr plugged in it will still throw a code after a little bit of driving... ive found that if i dont let my car engine brake at all(i have a 5speed) i can keep the light from coming on, gotta be clutch happy though

Re: EGR Removal
Just remove it, block off plate on exhaust manifold and throttle body, then disable the code in the ECM, or if you don't have tuning equipment I would get a megasquirt ECM, definitely a worthwhile investment if you plan to beef up your car.
