Re: What is this part?

Looks a bit like a EGR vacuum solenoid.

Re: What is this part?

the guy that had my camaro befor did the same thing and that solenoid is 210 dollars at autozone....i put a t in the other line going to that same "nipple" and used some hard plastic and a torch to drip it into the hole to close it off from leaking....just hooked that one up into a t unless you have a local scrap yard to get one from for cheap that's all i could see to do to it sinve i just want to get it running before i drop any major paper into it.

Re: What is this part?

Thanks Guys,I think I will try the t method.WOW $210 bucks!!!
BTW will this leak cause it to run rough?I put in new plugs, wires, distributor and rotor. It runs better, but when accellerating from a dead stop it kind of boggs down with no power until it gets going.

Re: What is this part?

Yes, breaking that line can cause a leak. However, that would also mean that the solenoid is sticking open, in which case it needs to be replaced anyways, since opening the throttle plate is what sends the vacuum signal to the solenoid. And yes, the factory, on some cars, had the solenoid set up with a T in the upper line running to the valve from the solenoid, instead of the dual nipple at the solenoid outlet.
