Hello All
I just bought this 85 camaro 2.8 a few month ago from this guy that was almost was going 2 junked it becase he couldn't sell it every thing else was good body was staright the paint was ok so i could let this car go to waste the only thing that was wrong was that the owner ran the car with very lil oil and mess up the crank berrings and the crankshaft along with the oil pump so i brought it for $250 brought it home took the engine out and rebuild it with new performnance parts from the crankshaft pinstons stage 2 cam timing chain high pressure oil pump rocker arms push rods lifters and i wanted to know what transmission did this v6 come with i want to buy a performance torque converter and also where could i find one i try looking but have not had any luck thanks

it came with a 700r4. there is a difference between the v6 and v8 transmission and i believe torque converters. talk with Dave on some of the turbo threads. project89 is his name on here. see what he ran on his turbo 660.

Oh ok cool thanks for the info and i will check with him on torque converter and how drop a turbo in my camaro

You're better off getting a later model performance built 700R4 if you're interested in boost. Between 87-90, the 700R4 went through several upgrades in the clutch packs. And yes, there is a difference between the V6 and V8 transmissions, in that the V6 trans has a smaller bellhousing and torque converter.
