Quick TPS question.

Hi all,I have a digital volt meter/multi meter thing and I cant remember which setting to put it to (ohm?) cause the selections are kinda limited. I need to reset my tps but I'm having a hard time getting a reading close to what the search has told me. I tried searching but didnt really come up with anything helpful (search engines dont like me lol).

Thanks .

Re: Quick TPS question.

You're measuring voltage. More accurately, DC voltage.

At closed throttle, set the TPS position so that, with key on & engine not running, the TPS voltage is 0.54Volts +/- 0.075Volts. Wide open throttle should be over 4 volts.

Full instructions can be found here: https://www.thirdgen.org/tpimod2

Also note that article has "IAC" adjustment instructions. I say "IAC" because you're actually adjusting the minimum air set screw, not the IAC. In any case, here are better instructions specific to the V6, and that do not run the risk of ECM damage due to starting the engine with the A&B ALDL terminals connected:

For V6: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/v6/2...rocedures.html

And in case you ever need it for a TPI V8: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/post...317-post6.html
