Need a favor from someone with a v6 tach
Would anyone be willing and able to measure the resistance across one of the resistors on the back of their tachometer?(Please make sure the tach is accurate to within at least 250 rpms tho if possible, if its not accurate it would make anyone who swapped resistors have an inaccurate tach as well)
I myself and several others would love to know what resistor needs swapped in, we know what to do, we just don't have the # for resistance, this is for the purpose of converting a v8 tach to a v6 one, it would also give me the info to make a writeup on how to swap in an IROC gauge cluster into a v6 car and still have the tach work, which I'm sure people would love since its hard finding a v6 cluster with a tach and or high mph speedo(exhibit A, my "v6" gauge cluster I bought off ebay(was listed as a v6 one) turned out to be a v8 one, and the seller thinks otherwise and won't offer a viable solution
)
Edit: This info could also be used to correct an inaccurate v6 tach.

Does your tach run off of a circuit board that is about 3/4x2" and is black? Or is yours different?

I'll have to check which means it will be like a week probably...car is in the shop atm and about half an hour away. But wouldn't they all be the same for 82-89? Wondering what difference it will make if mine is different...

Well, mine has the black board in it, with a certain set of resistors. If yours is different, you would need to write down and post the number on the top of the big chip on the board so that the datasheets for it can be found and used if possible. I know mine is based on a Toshiba chip that the morons at Toshiba refuse to let go of the datasheet for (because it's ancient and obsolete), so it's difficult to find out just what needs to be connected to it to be used with different engines, ignition systems, and tachometer signals, but it works properly, if anyone needs help.
