Terrible Shaking

When I am slowing down at about 5 mph per 3-5 seconds (moderatly fast I guess), between 35 and 30 mph, my driver side front wheel starts shaking REALLY bad. I had my knees against the steering wheel and both arms on it, and I couldn't see straight it was shaking so bad. Anybody have a clue? It kinda happened awhile ago to the other wheel, and it was an ungreased inner tie rod ball joint (it was about to come apart), but I checked everything out and it looks fine. I was going to ask you guys before I got an appointment at the local shop. Thanks for anything you can come up with!

you might have a bad belt in your tire. That'll cause the wheel to shake a lower speeds, but it'll be o.k. at roughly 40+ mph.

It could be a number of things,like......
a missing weight,a broken belt, bad break pads or lines to a worn out front end.
I wouldn't let it go to long unchecked.Otherwise you may not be around much longer.
I,like the rest of use do not want to see that happen.

I agree with everyone else. You may also want to check your wheel bearings. To do this you will have to remove the rotor.

The bearings, pads, and rotor are all new. I am going to be replacing the front tires soon, so I hope that is it. Since my step dad and I couldn't find anything wrong, I am just going to take it into the shop later this week. It is probably a number of things, since the car is now at 176549 miles. Thank you for all of your suggestions!

id definatly check the tie rod ends.. has it been doing it since you replaced the rotor, if so rotor could be warped.. what about the wheel bearings.. overtightening them can make them go bad fast, and not tightening them enough can cause problems too.. a broken belt would do it all the time at that speed, not just when hitting the brakes.. nor would a tire being out of balance.. how is that tire that you suspect wearing?
