Rebuild Done! But I have chip question

Well after several months, and /many/ set backs (wrong pistons, rings, crank, and having to have 2 blocks machined, and the flywheel) My LT is back on the road and I must say being able to pass other cars on the highway in 5th is a nice feeling But i was wondering if anyone is running a Fastchip Chip with a CompuCam 2030 cam and maybee some other mods?.. if so how well does it work?.. I 'll prolly give fast chip a call this week and talk to them to make sure it will work.. mainly because I don't realy want to spend $360 on a 'custom' chip when their standard one would do the trick..

P.S. For anyone considering trying to find a 82-84 Z28 composit hood.. Just so you know I ran into clearance problems between the area around the the latch (on the hood) and the 'snorkels' of the air intake. I have to notch my 82 hood and lay in some new fiber glass to make it fit and retain the original strength. Its not a difficult job.. just unexpected (the hood fit perfactly when the intake was off) but i thought I would pass that tid bit along.

You might want to ask Brian K about that, he seems to know a lot about the Fastchip. He's pushed them alot, so he might know someone! His website is at: http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Street/6348/

The fastchip stage 2 didnt do much for me . I run a compucam................Ed Wright told me the chip would knock off 3 tenths..........After several passes I was pissed to find out the chip only kicked off a tenth. I also corrected the et's to make sure i wasnt just running slower because of weather. More than likely you need a chip designed to work with the compucam to maximize benefits.

Hey scoob, what were the problems you had with the Hypertech?

I know Hypertech ain't the greatest in the world, and I do plan on buying a FastChip eventually. I did notice a difference when I threw it in back in May though. I've got Firestone Firehawk GTA's on my car, which are fairly sticky tires, and before the chip, flooring it from idle wouldn't even make the right rear chirp. After I added it, under the same conditions, on the same road it spun for a second or so. To me, thats proof they do work....

Did your chip blow up scoob, or were you just not happy with the gain in performance?

Thanks for the replies guys, and I'll have to do more reaserch (and prolly call fastchip thursday) See I'm asking because besides want ing the extra power over all.. the motor seems to fall off power wise above 5000 rpm.. (before then it screams).. and I was thinking maybe it was the computer not keeping up, but then it was suggested tonight that i could be losing my spark too (more than likely a bit of both) so maybee a high output ingnition is in order first?
