4.3 is a 90* engine and is the same amount of work to install as a v8...ford engines??

a 3.4 v6 is a straight swap... 170 hp and 200 tq for about 500 bucks if u go to ta creations, u can grab a tranny for about 300 more.

------------------
K&N,MSD Gm Coil,TB Bypass, Flowmasters with Hand Made Tips, Msd Heli-Core Wires, Cold Air Intake, Dynomax High-flow cat,Rapidfires, AND IN ONE MONTH VORTECH BLOWN CUSTOM INSTALL W/ A COMPUCAM! I feel the need to race after that...ill let you guys know after its done, and ill be sure to dyno!
Next:
Cam, Rockers, Pulleys, Msd 6a...maybe a 3.4 crank too..boost torque a bit...

Hey wait, are you the same guy who posted this question on this board earlier this summer?? I've never seen so many Chevy fans so riled up by a post....and no, I wouldn't do this, even if you do have the motor. Every time you pull up somewhere and pop the hood, it won't be cool having a Ford motor in a Chevy.....

i dont see the point in installing a 302 in a firebird/camaro...if u want a ford engine, buy a F@RD!!! We buy these for the GM muscle not ford...my .02 cents

quite possible that you got a lemon of a motor, my 2.8L lasted for 233,000 miles before it died out. So i'm sold on the entire 2.8L idea. I think that a 302 would be a lot of trouble, plus no one has done one that i know of.i mean there are a lot of questions, will the radiator work right, you've got the tranny, but will the driveshafts match up, what about the rear end you'll need a new one just to handle v8 torque anyway.not to mention fuel lines and stuff, which might require a new tank. Technically i'd advise you to stick with a GM engine, at least you're staying in the same company. And if you do decide to get go f*rd, i'd say at least get a 351 Cleveland, or maybe a 428 Cobra Jet, come on, don't get the same engine found in rustang 5.slows that we're tosting around here anyway.Another thing, if a Camaro will beat a rustang, and the rustang was smaller, and lighter than the maro, what's that tell you about the engine. Finally, i recomend a 3.4 convert, if you want to. OR a 3.1, but that's only if you're ticked off at the 2.8L. a 350, 383 stroker, or 327 would also work out but the changes that need to be made will be a lot. Also had you thought about a MPFI 2.8L, it'll drop in, but you'll still have some changing to do. it'd be a lot quicker, and more powerfull than the carbed version.

Any swap, no matter what the motor (and I agree, keep Ford motors in Ford cars, but that -is- a great price for a 302, maybe you can set up a trade with someone?) is going to be a pain in the butt. Don't forget that your transmission's bellhousing won't mate up to a v8 motor. If you have the automatic trans, you're screwed. If you have a manual, you might try re-drilling the trans bellhousing, but the trans would probably blow into many high-speed pieces.

It would be much easier to find a wrecked v8 f-body, and swap the whole engine & wiring harness onto your car. That way you'd have all the parts you'd need.

Get a small block 400 with some worked up heads and a built 700R4 and a nice 12 bolt rear and go tear up the streets.. Figure about 5-6000 and a lot of time and fun...
