Seeing as how most of us haven't rebuilt our engines yet, I would assume most of us have crappy valve seals because of our engine's age.

My valve seals are not too good, so I get a small puff and an oily smell at start up. I use about 1 quart of 10W30 every 1500 miles. Is this considered normal? How much does everyone elses car use?

i went fully synthetic at jiffy lube and they fill up the oil when its low, so thats cool..but anyways i use a quart every 1500 miles too..but no smoke or anything... my engines on 175,000 miles now

yeah, my 3.1 started puffing a little smoke about a year ago but it only seems to do it when i shut the car off and then start it within 15-30 minutes. but anyway, i only use about 1/4 to 1/2 a quart every 3,000 miles so i don't worry about it.

and VERY slow

 

I use a 1/2 quart every 3000 miles. Actually it doesn't use any it just leaks out around distributor b/c some idiot who did some work on it didn't fix it right.

I've come to realize that I'm gonna have this car till it pukes for good, b/c I'll never be able to bring myself to sell it.

 

I put in about a 1/2 quart every month.. don't know the mileage tho...
