Getting a code 32...

I have a '91 Firebird w/ a 3.1L V6. It posts a code 32 quite frequently. It has one of the digital EGR setups. I disconnected the EGR solenoids and checked the coil resistances with an ohmmeter and got resistances within the ranges given at this website:
http://www.smpcorp.com/contt.htm

I also had the solenoid assembly off the mount and I did not see any blockage of the passages.

Also another interesting thing is that the speedometer is acting up but seems to be linked somehow to the code 32. Thats the only one thats posted, but the speedo does not function or works erratically until the SES light comes on. After that the speedo work like its suppose to. (could be just a coincidence) Would these signs and symptoms indicate a faulty ECM module?

Well, I don't know a thing about the electronic EGR's, but maybe if I throw some random stuff at ya..?

The computer's supposed to engage EGR when the car's warmed up, above a certain speed (!), and "cruising"- AKA you're not flooring the gas.

The speedo might have something to do with it- but I don't imagine the comptuer would set a code for the EGR. If the computer doesn't know you're going fast enough, why would it engage the EGR?

How's the vacuum source to all the EGR equipment? Do you have a cracked hose somewhere?

There could be ECM trouble.. especially with that weird speedo problem. I'm surprised tho that you're not setting a VSS error code. Did that # ever show up? You could check the VSS connection at the tailshaft of the transmission.. maybe it's loose or dirty? Ah but that still wouldn't explain the speedo working right after the code...

Nice website you found, tho!

With the digital EGR there are no vacuum lines, the valves are controlled directly by the ECM.

No there has not ever been a VSS code, just the code 32.
