MY FUN WITH CODE 34
MY FUN WITH CODE 34
I have a 1988 sport coup with a 3.4 v6 & 5speed that is my commuter car, the v6 returning good gas mileage for those long trips. I recently had fun with a code 34 being set and some low idle or no idle. Reading some of the other posts, I checked out everything and even borrowed a smoke generator from the shop I work at, which revealed smoke leaks at the EGR valve and valve cover grommets, all of which I repaired. Smoke also came from the throttle body shaft. I decided to replace it with a good spare I had on hand, and when I removed the IAC motor, I found the problem. I had replaced the IAC last year with an Autozone part. what happened was that the pintle seat unthreaded from it's shaft, which caused a low idle and the Maf sensed the low idle and set the code 34. it also would hunt for idle after warm up. i just wanted to share the info with anyone who can use it.
