84 2.8l carb to 87 2.8l mpfi
ok i've spent numerous hours searching on the net to find out what exactly i will need to take from the mpfi car to get rid of the pos carb on the 84 with little to no success all i keep seeing is stuff for s10 swaps...i know this has been done before and i just want to know exactly what parts i need from the donor vehicle besides the obvious upper and lower intake manifolds, fuel injectors and fuel rail, ecm and wiring harness...i know there must be more to it than that so any help would be much appreciated thanks

I dont know if the fuel tanks are the same, efi cars usually have a bigger sending unit because the pump is in there, 84s have a block mount pump. You'll need to get those fuel lines that hook to the rail & sending unit.
You'll need the ducting for the maf sensor. Might have to run an electric fan. I'd get the throttle/tv cables too, are you getting it from a donor car at a junk yard? If so see if you can work out a deal w/ the yard owner to get anything you want off the car for one fee.

Basically? Get the entire engine harness from the ECM to the firewall connector by the brake hose and any associated emissions control devices that are different from the ones you currently have. Personally, if I were you, I'd get the entire powertrain from the main crank pulley to the tail of the trans. The engine was upgraded in 85 to larger main bearings and also to have larger valves in the cylinder heads. The trans updated several times as well. You could probably get it for cheap (just saw an engine and trans combo locally on Craigslist for $350). You will also need the front exhaust pipe as some of the older ones don't have the provision for the oxygen sensor. Be prepared to possibly repin the firewall connector I mentioned above and to possibly add some wires for power to systems your car doesn't currently have. You will also need either an inline fuel pump or to get a sending unit from a fuel-injected car, as above, due to the fact that the 84 has the pump mounted on the engine that won't even come close to putting out the minimum 37 PSI required for fuel injection. And you'll probably need the metal fuel lines (or to modify your existing ones for the new fuel hoses) running between the tank and the engine compartment.
