I can front this one...and im not even a moderator...
Graeme'sFirebird, CC_HotRod are allowed to be moderators by the owner of this board, the guy who runs thirdgen.org.
i know because ive set up the UBB on a few systems, i know how it works. He probably patrols all the sections of his bulliten board, to make sure that the moderators are doing their jobs, which of one is to keep flames to a minimum, and to keep topics to techincal items, which this part of the board is about.
when you start posting non-tech topics, and flames (of which i have been a part of a couple) then the owner gets mad, and yells at Graeme and CC to start doing their jobs..hence the massive amount of locking.
just keep it down a bit, dont get all bent outa shape about things, and they will go a little easier im sure..

Yeah, I'm used to UBB setups and I am a moderator of a board.. I thought it was just a little bit excessive in some of the post in the forum.. There are way more flames and off topic area's in some of the other topics and those seem to not get locked.. That's the only reason I was wondering.

I personally do not mind. There's other places that I could talk non-tech if I wanted to-- and personally, I'd rather have tech-only. It keeps the crap out.
Besides, nobody seems to understand that they should either contact the moderators or administrators through e-mail to discuss this! Messages like this just attempt to stir crap up, and wind up starting trouble. If you've got a problem, then talk to someone in charge privately.
