Re: Cherry Bomb on 3.1l
I would actually like to know this as well. My muffler is screwed and I love the loud muscle sound. I wanna replace the cat with a cherry bomb and cut out the muffler and get some new exhaust tips.

Both of you need to check your states' inspection and emissions laws... In most states, you have to at least APPEAR to have a working catalytic converter or your car won't pass inspection. At worst, you could end up with a fine ...

I had mine like that for a while. It sounded good I though but smelled bad. As any car will do with no cat.
I liked it while I had it, so go for it! I might vave made an exhaust clip while it was like that, Ill take a look on my cpmputer..

Where can i buy a "Cherry Bomb" CATalytic converter? id love to change mmine
My exhaust is.. blocked up. it spits "black liquid" out from running so rich. Nice rumble. i should post it, but its choking, too.
Link to glasspack R Cherry Bomb that will fit Camaro, leaving a (drilled out) and pipe replaced exhaust on?
EMISSIONS BE DAMNED! "APPEAR TO WORK" IS ALL THEY WILL GET!

Why the hell do people do this? The previous owner did it to my car I just don't get it! Just throw in a high flow cat! It costs maybe a tiny bit more, flow barely changes, and your car doesn't stink up the neighborhood!

Re: Cherry Bomb on 3.1l
I have no cats on my Camaro, pair of glasspacks in the stock muffler location, and I think it sounds great! My wife thinks its too loud though.
I'm running a carb'd 350 and still working on fine tuning it and I've never had it "stink up the neighborhood" nor have any of my neighbors ever complained about any kind of exhaust smell from my Camaro. The noise yes, but nothing about any smells.

Also, I believe that you paid too much for the "high flow" cat... More than likely, it's pretty much the same inside for $230 as my $100 cat...

Re: Cherry Bomb on 3.1l
Flowmasters dont belong on ANY engine, period. They are definitley not the "flow master" as I've seen tests saying they're more restrictive than a stock muffler...
Look up a thread called best V6 exhaust, or something like that. It's several pages long with lots of sound clips and info on different setups...

Believe the sound clip or not, but back when i first bought my 87 camaro for a project it had a 2.8 motor and i put a glass pack where the stock muffler was and cut overy thing else out and i was very pleased with the results. 2.8 sounds like an 8

Im goign to post my bone-butt-stock Camaro exhaust right now.. and we can talk about how it sounds, if yall like it, etc. its starting to sound throaty again, as all carbon is getitng removed..
This is bone exhaust, stock flow-stuff into stock cat, into stock pipe and stock muffler, likely the original one.

Re: Cherry Bomb on 3.1l
I bought my 92 Camaro with Flowmasters installed, although the cars has had a cam and all put in it, for people who don't know any better think that it's a V8 car.
Sounds pretty good to me.
