vacum lines
what would a vacum leak do to an engine?, my car starts fine when its cold, but after i start it up, the idle bounces, it goes up then goes down, after the car is warm and i turn it off, when i go to restart it the engine doesnt wanna start, it cranks over for about 20 seconds before it starts, also about 10 after driving my check engine light kicks on, only to things i can think off are the vacum lines, i know i atleast have one leak and thats one of the hoses coming off the charcoal canister, the big line i believe, or the other thing is maybe my timing? i may need to retard it back alittle bit but idk, any guesses? i need this to stop expectial the delay start, makes my car sound alittle bad....
forgot to add, the other day i went out and started my car, it was idleing about 1500, then all of a sudden my RPMS just dropped to about 600 RPM, normal? maybe the engine warmed up enough and let it drop?

Re: vacum lines
Yes, those would be indicators of a vacuum leak. My guess for the SES light would be that you have an EGR problem, which is also associated with a vacuum leak, most of the time (code 32 if and when you pull it). Both of my 3.1's did the same thing, throwing the light after driving for 10 minutes with an EGR failure (never could figure out why the digital one didn't work on the 93...).
And yes, the engine speed at idle will noticeably drop when the CTS indicates the engine temp is 160* and the O2S indicates it's ready to go, most of the time it will be about 1200 RPM to about 900, unless you have messed with your minimum air flow. I had mine down to about 700 in Neutral (no park on a 5-speed).

Re: vacum lines
Yes, the charcoal can is tied into the EGR line. One part of the can requires ported vacuum, as does the EGR solenoid. If that line is bad, you won't have vacuum in the line, so the EGR won't work. However, we don't know for sure if you have an EGR problem as you need to pull the code out of the ECM to find out what's up. And, would you rather pay quite a bit to have the lines replaced or maybe $20 to do it yourself? It's not brain surgery...
