time to take it to a shop?
I think I'm gonna break down and pay the shop fees to get my 87 2.8 SC fixed. I had problems with the wires so I thought that was the problem with my engine, so I decided to do a full tune-up. I did the plugs, wires, coil, cap, rotor, pcv valve, air filters. Still had the problem so I changed the fuel filter and threw in some injector cleaner. The car seems to go a bit better, but I'm getting 12 mpg and the engine makes a weird drizzly sound when accelerating. Now to boot my tranny is delaying a little when shifting gears, which I hope is just needing a fluid change. I bought this car because the body is in good shape, the engine ran half decent, and I got a good deal.

How is your T-stat? If it is "weak" or "stuck open", the engine will think it is cold and richen it. This is fine when the engine is warming up, but after that you are just wasting gas and you may notice a drop in performance.

Did you replace more? You left a few things out of the major tuneup- checking the timing, resetting the TV cable, and cleaning out the throttle body/intake with "Fuel Injection Tune-Up Spray". (Don't use carb/choke cleaner- the stuff is sold next to the c/c cleaner tho.)

i thought we figured out that that drizzly sound was a bad plug wire that was shorting out? guess not if you replaced all that stuff.. try checking for vaccum leaks.. you can even use a lil bit of wd40 on a cold engine around, injectors, intake gaskets, etc.. if the idle changes it means it sucked the wd40 in and you found your leak...
