i took my car fer a paint estimate and was rewarded with a 7500 dollar estimate from possum auto body in albany oregon.said it would look 3 times better than new!!!will include 7 coats of ppg paint followed by 3 coats of clearcoat and includes hand waxes for free for as long as i own it. this sound good to you guys sounds real high to me?wuts your tak on it?
Well this sounds like a paint job for a Serious custom car, not a Thirdgen. If you had just customised a 68 SS Camaro with a 502 and 17" Wheels, I could see it. Hey you know those wax jobs would add up in the end, but I think you could buy another car for that price and be happier with that plus a $2000 paint job for you Thirdgen
You can get a real nice paint job for 1500-2000 for your 3rd gen.... Unless you are creating a custom wild dream ride 7000 is way to high.. If I tossed 7000 into paint I would be afraid to drive it..

that is kinda high, even for a custom rod.. 7 coats is a bit much too.. was that for normal paint or peal paint that appears to be different colors from different angles? (ie master p's impalla) cos that kinda paint is applied with a coat for each color.. me, id set about 1000 max on a paint job..

I was quoted $900 for a color change with a few minor dings. I'm a little picky about paint and body so get references and a written estimate. I would also get a written guarantee.
As for the gravel trucks. This is winter and ODOT has all of those plows spewing cinder. That way you'd get a rental while your ride is in the cosemetic surgery center

$7500?! They better be painting EVERYWHERE on your car.... that's a little pricey. And there's no way it should take 7 coats of paint... I'd say 4 at the most. Of course, I kinda like the 3 coats of clearcoat look.... nice and deep....
The previous owner of my Camaro (who is also my good friend), had his done at Maaco... you know, the $199 Ambassador crap. Well, that turned out to be a mistake... he got a $199 paintjob. It's been about 4 years, and it's already faded, and the clearcoat on the little deck by the rear spoiler is starting to peel away.
But luckily, my dad paints cars (and some bodywork), and does damn good work, so I'm getting it straightened and repainted this summer for free....
