Adjusting the car, need information

OK im adjustng the carb'd LC1 from 1984. I found that the 5mm socket from the took set i have lt me turn the "Screw on the rearward carburetor flap" it WAS all the way OUT meaning i could see all the threads. i gave it about 10 turns or so and now its in more. The result? It idles lower and smoother Drove it the other way for months w high idle..... did i help my MPG ay there? my gas mileage is SO BAD!

Now the second thing i did, was buy a 1/2" crescent wrench. Sprayed some PB Blaster, and unscrewed the top Transmission Line that went to the radiator. Of course i found out... it was the RETURN line! Sooooo, ATF srayed all ovr my engine/sides of car/windshield, and i havent gotten it all the way off the windshield yet. Then i drove a coupl miles to Walmart, and added in ~4 quarts of new Hi-i Supertech ATF to it (says it was aproved for Dexron II and III.) I drove it again, and it seems all leveled off now. Trans seems strong again, im attemptign to verify when it was low i could feel it not acting right (4 quarts low from the spraaay, YES i only drove it 10 minutes like that) and lower trans line and everything else was untouched, now its in the crosshairs "checked hot" as it says to do, level surface, in park. What should i be on the lookout for in regards to how my trans acts? Seems i changed 25% of the fluid ? Is that fine?

Im trying to get it right. Thanks!
