I'm a big fan of the B&M shift improver (stage 2). Cheap, easy to install, and works wonders.

I also have the B&M Megashifter and the Shift Improver Kit (stage 2). I thought the shifter was easy to do; I did it after removing the center console. Here's some shifter tips:

1. Read & re-read & re-re-read the instructions.
2. Put all the parts needed for each step in baggies, and label the bags "Step 5" "Step 11" etc. This way you're not scrounging for parts on the garage floor.
3. I bought the Radio Shack relay that the instructions mention. Wiring it up is easy as long as you read the instructions! It took me no time at all.
4. Read the instructions again
5. Pay particular attention to the adjustment of the swivel to the hole in the shift lever! (The last part of the shifter instructions.) Take your time with it and do it by-the-instructions and it'll go smoothly.

It took me a couple hours to do.

I have a soft shifting 700R4
I have a monster 3.4 block in front of this tranny.
Is it worth putting a shift kit in this tranny?
I'd really enjoy a stronger tranny shift to go with this strong engine.
What's this bit about "servos?"

PimpRide, Why didn't you have them put in a shift kit, while you had them rebuild the tranny? TO ME, that option would have made sense, pay them & they warranty.

Amen..... i love mine and the shift kit too. OH.... DO NOT use armor all on the rubber boot on the B@M shifter.... You WILL regret it as it seems to destroy the boot. Other then that pay attention to the adjustment of the cable or you will be buying one a month after you install. The other thing i did and its what i was to wrap electrical tape around the first 2 feet of the cable where it connects to the shifter. The red tubing can be cut/snaped open REAL easy and even EASIER if you nick it.

Red91, I did the same thing! I armor-all'd the shifter boot. It looked really nice- for a week or so. Then it cracked to hell. $20 later for a new one, and I'm not bringing armor-all anywhere near it!

KED, yes, a shift kit will make a difference. Search through the messages on the transmission board to find out what shift kits do (and the servo too). And in case someone was going to ask- Yes, we use the same transmissions & parts (except for the outer case) as the v8 f-bodies do.
