Replacing Fuel Filter
Hi I want to replace the fuel filter on my camaro but I ma not so sure on how to do this. First of all where is the filter located, and secondly how do I release the pressure from the lines thats are connected to the filter, or do I just go ahead and unscrew the thing, thanks for the help!
Re: Replacing Fuel Filter
The filter is under the car, around the left rear side, in front of the axle.
First remove the gas cap, then unplug the fuel pump connector, then run it till it stalls. Crank it alittle more after that. The lines will still have fuel in them & possably some psi so be careful.
Sometimes the fittings can be rusted tight so use alot of lube. I like that Freeze Off penetrating lube, follow the instructions on the can. It really works good on those fittings.

You need to make sure you use 2 wrenches, one to hold the filter, one to turn the connector. Make sure you spray penetrating oil on it and let it sit - I spray mine and wait a day before removal, I also use PB Blaster oil. Just remove the gas cap, then loosen the filter - have a big towel on hand to absorb the leaking fuel (I use an old bath towel).

Re: Replacing Fuel Filter
If you want to disconnect the fuel pump, there is a plug on the body above and forward of the rear differential. When you are under there looking for the filter, look above the differential, you will see it.
