yeapie, it was one of those newer ones, but not the newest style. The car had this freaky double decker spoiler, and looked kinda funny, i saw it earlier but then just brushed it off as a stupid looking car. Well, i stopped, shopped, ate, and when i came back out i noticed the same car right infront of me, it seemed the race gods were smiling upon me. So, i though i'd take advantage of it. We moved down the road, and ended up catching a light. IT was perfect, cold night, and an open highway with a 55mph speedlimit. The only prob is that their are some detours ahead because of construction. I knew for a fact that i can make a good run against a GT through 1st gear, but they will walk on me past 2nd. So, ahead i could see the Detour area, and when the light turned green, i had a slight brake torque to get a good jump, i spanked the dude off the line (he probably wasn't paying attention) I hit my powerband and he held even with me, not losing any more ground. Well, we hit second gear, and my car slowed it's acceleration. His car gained it quickly, but luckily we hit the construction area, and were placed in a manuvering contest, and i will now vouch that a firebird will hold a corner better than a mudstain, his car began to slip (his tires were screaching) and he was forced to slow down, while mine stuck hard, and pulled me through the turn. After that it was just more open highway, but the distance i gained on him from the point of the turn was so much that he didn't catch me before he had to turn off. All in all, a good race, and was perfromed with no risk to other motorists (the most important part). Well, that's all. Post another one for the good guys, and i'm glad right now, i've finally gotten a decent kill, in ideal conditions without risking the saftey of others.

So, just add a Mustang GT to my kill list.

EXCELLENT!
Wait until you let them pass, into the speed trap!
I did that once, boy, was his girlfriend pissed!!!!

You have the 2.8 Auto?
What axle ratio?
I have the Y99 & F41 option on mine. I think I have 3:42, feels it!
Take all the stuff out from behind the front bumper, that shaves about 100 lbs.
And aids radiator cooling so well!

actually just through 1st, second he was pulling on me, i was saved by the corner. The 4.6L GT i had raced before this, was on a dead straight away with no cars ahead of us. I raced that guy untill i hit about 70mph, and i hung with him all the way through 1st gear, when he hit second he took off. That's why i was nearly sure, that unless this guy was modded, i would hang with him through 1st, by second gear he was pulling on me, but when we hit the corner, he had to slow a lot, and i didn't cause my car would hold, after the corner i had gained enough distance that he couldn't catch me before he had to turn off which was still several miles down the highway. any more questions.

sorry fella's i've been away from the boards for a while, (2days) anyway, we were racing on Highway 94, IN St. Charles, for 3.1L's sake. what's the Hmmmm? for mike? just curious. Many people have seen that 4.6L stangs are slugs through 1st gear, but they get up and go in second. Trust me, raced a couple of em myself. This guy probably wasn't being helped either by mad hella stereo equipment (i could hear him bumpin') and also i was paying closer attention to the light and got the jump, plus my car took the corner much better than his did. so, with all of that, i was able to pull off a victory. Just remember, take em into the corner, pull out hard, punch the loud pedal, and just blast away!

I know that the 4.6 GT's are Slower than alot of cars but they are not slow-slow. I am simply curious to what mods you have that's all. I kinda thought the GT's were faster than they really are until last night I raced a 94-95 5.0 GT auto in my 2000 3.8 5-Speed and took it by half a car off the line and he couldn't over take me. (Yess the 2000 is a Mudstain but it only cost $13,995 for a 2000 with 4,000 miles on it. ) Anyway , what are your mods I am curious. The hmmm... just means I want to know more, Nice kill.

Yeah I am curious of the mods that you did to your car if any. I am thinking of doing some mods to my 92 firebird 3.1L V-6 but i am not really sure where to go. I already have a jacobs ignition system and a k and n air filter but i'd like to some more.

I have only the basic mods, a K&N filter, and a Acell Super Coil, but besidest that there aren't any to list. The big mod that i have would have to be the brand new motor, (roughly 4k old) The motor was bored over also, with a .040 and runs like a dream. I haven't taken it to the track yet, but i will in the summer time, or spring. When i did this race, i was slightly low on gas (saved weight) thank God. but for mods there really are none. Also, i've raced a 99-00 stang 3800, with a manual tranny, and that guy left me like i was sitting still. The new stangs, v6's and v8's are pretty quick, earlier versions i'm not to impressed with, plus like i said, they seem to be slow through 1st gear, but can walk on me through second. I was still lucky because of the sharp turn which the stang couldn't handle and him slowing down to make the turn was enough to give me a lengthy lead, from which he could't recover. All in all, i was very impressed, and thought it was a lot of fun. But trust me, a stang is quicker than a 2.8L bird, much, but basically only through the 2nd,3rd, and 4th gears. Also, i'm pretty sure he had an Auto too, plus my jump from the light helped a lot. Any other Q's just ask.

I still wouldnt add it to my "kill" list. If you only beat it through 1st gear then you lost! Dont mean to be a **** but if every guy I let get the jump on me and then dusted in three seconds put me on his kill list I would be pissed.
