91 Firebird For Monte SS that need no work but isnt in the best shape body wise, but the firebird need trans work, and the monte ss runs and drives

what do you guys think, heres some number crunching i was doing, its 8 in the am here and i got outta work 2 hours ago so i very well could have misread some numbers and my math fails but this is what i got so far

Trans-Am(Including Formula, 1Le, GTA, & Firehawk)
367,191

Z28(Including 1LE & Iroc)
612,324

All Trans Am/Z28=979,515

Firebird=840,696

Camaro=1,528,471

F-Body=2,369,167

40.8% Of all fbodies are a performance package car compared to 28.0% Of the monte carlo,
but they made almost 2,000,000 less(1,821,834 More Were Made)

Monte Carlo

SS
154,815

AeorSS
6,252

Re: 91 firebird trade for ss monte?

Im Guessing your talking about a 83-88 Monte Carlo SS, not one of the newer ones. For a V6 Firebird I say go for it. Body work isnt my favorite thing but the trade seems like you'll come out way ahead..
More info would be helpfull though, about each car involved..

i would keep the bird personally, just because i think the monte's look like ***, but its up to you. if you need a running driving car, and the monte is it, go for it.

Re: 91 firebird trade for ss monte?

If you check the average prices on the SS I think you'll find them substantially more sought after than the firebird.

Re: 91 firebird trade for ss monte?

oh yeah, the v6 is just like urs k-slice, except its got the t/a body kit, and the injectors are going bad again, trans is going out, but the manifold on the right side of the ss is broke, the rest of the body is soild, but the floor pans are going out, it is an 85 ss, 305 h.o. stock, with under 77,000 on body, owner said nothing is wrong except it sat, and i started it and ran it for a min, i have 142000 and need to do a tranny rebuild, and it has left me stranded a couple of times so...

Sounds like the monte has a higher cost to repair if you ask me, idk if the broken manifold is exhaust or intake, but regardless new floor pans aren't cheap, the only difference is they can wait if you can shirk by without an inspection whereas the trans would need fixed immediately, but a used trans could be found in the $200 range, some decent injectors in the $150 area, vs. about the combined amount for just one floor pan, or at least a new pan for fbody is 300 some, might be cheaper for a monte, but not much if so.
It is a more rare and desirable car, the montes don't handle as well though to the best of my knowledge, personally I wish I could trade my car for a fiero, the camaro is just more car then I need...but who wants a half finished v6 project camaro that needs a paint job and a floor pan....and some engine work to boot.
