10 dollar RAM AIR !!

Hi, I am new to this board but I think I may have something interesting to contribute. About a week ago I fabricated a RAM AIR system for my 88 Sport Coupe with the "Y" shaped air box that goes strait forward from the throttle body and is kinda clamped down in front of the radiator. Anyway here is a rough description of what I did. First I went to the hardware store and got a 4" by 8' peice of drier duct (way more than you need) then I cut the bottom of the air boxes out (leave 1/4" around the edge) and removed another splash shield under that. Now to make the tubes. First you should get a peice of cardboard and cut it to 6"x6" then cut a 4" hole in the middle. Now you have a good template. Next you need to find a peice of flat plastic about 1/8" thick and use your template to make two squares with the 4" hole. After making that round the edges of those squares to fit the air box. Now cut the drier vent in half. Take a peice of drier hose and stick it through the plastic square about 1/4" and bend the lip down. Now you will need a caulking gun and silicone adheasive run a bead of silicone adheasive around the drier vent on both sides of the plastic to seal it and wait for it to dry. Repeat this to make the second one. Next you will have to cut some of the drier vent off to fit but be carefull not to cut too much off. Place the vent into the cutout airbox and bend the vent forward so it goes to the grill where the front licence plate normally goes. Once everything is the right length you will need the silicone again to seal the airbox at the sides of the plastin squares. Then poke a couple of small holes in the vent at the grill and use nylon zip ties to secure it there. Once all the silicone dries start her up, go for a drive and feel the power!!!

I hope this helps some people. Tell me what you think
